In line with global trends in mobile communication technology, Taiwan will be shutting down its 3G network on June 30, 2024. After this date, all communication services, including internet access and voice calls, will be fully switched to 4G/5G networks.

Once 3G network services are terminated, it will no longer be possible to make voice calls using 3G phones, including emergency calls to 110, 119, and 112.

To ensure that hikers can maintain communication quality and emergency assistance services during their outdoor activities, we urge you to check if your phone and SIM card support 4G Voice over LTE (VoLTE) functionality and enable the VoLTE feature on your phone.
